Players Born in York
Samuel Byram (born 16 September 1993) is a professional footballer who plays for Leeds United as a right back, right midfielder or right winger. Byram was born in Thurrock, Essex before moving North where he attended Ralph Butterfield Primary School, Haxby, and then Joseph Rowntree School in York. He played for the City Schools team as a boy before joining Leeds United after he finished his secondary education. Sam was born in Essex but moved to
York before his first birthday where he grew up
in the same area of Yorkshire as plenty of young
footballers who hope to emulate his achievements,
especially at such a young age.
Lewis Cook (born 3 February 1997) is a professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Leeds United. He was born in North Yorkshire, and is a former pupil at Tadcaster Grammar School where he grew up nearby. He graduated through the Leeds United Academy and was playing for the Leeds under-18s team when he was just 15 years old, before being handed his debut on the 12th August 2014, starting the League Cup match against Accrington Stanley, and made his first League start for Leeds on 30th August
against Watford. On 2 May 2015, Cook won the
Young Player of the Year Award for Leeds United
and finished as runner up for Player of the Season.
Charles Taylor (born 18 September 1993) is a professional footballer who plays for Leeds United at his primary position in left back, though he can also play as a left winger. Born in North Yorkshire, Taylor attended Tadcaster Grammar School and played in the junior teams at Leeds United before signing as a scholar with the club upon leaving school in the summer of 2010. At 17 years of age, Taylor made his first team debut for Leeds as a second half substitute against local rivals Bradford City in the League Cup on 9th August 2011. Taylor joined hometown club York City, who were newly-promoted to League Two, on loan on 30th August 2012. Having made five
appearances for York, Taylor returned to Leeds
on 26th October 2012.

All 3 of the current Leeds United players grew up very nearby to Huntington, especially Sam Byram who attended Joseph Rowntree Secondary School, which is less than a 15 minute walk from Huntington School. These 3 players are now the subject of lots of interest from bigger clubs as they show their talents together at Leeds United, and all 3 have bigger things to come in both their club and international careers, despite their small upbringings in North Yorkshire.
